I just finished 3 Urasawa works, ordered by how i rate them:

Monster - too awesome. Will forever be the one that all new manga i read is compared to.

20th Century Boys - very close second, if not tied for 1st.

Pluto - great manga, but i thought it degraded a little towards the end.

Reading some others slowly but surely :P

Recently the franchise has enjoyed a “third season” comic book with Devil’s Due publishing, but has Netflix finally begun to follow up on earlier talks about a full-scale revival? Speaking to Nerdacy at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival series creator Stephen Chbosky relayed that discussions for a true ‘Jericho’ revival are ongoing, saying:You know WME (William Morris Endeavor) Agency, who represents me, Jon Turteltaub and many other people, and they’ve been talking to Netflix and you never know. I can’t say what it will be in season three, but I’m excited for the new developments.

The trailer looks really really good, the cast is brilliant and the premise seems good to me. Saw this trailer at the end of the Dexter finale and from the trailer. Nice to see Showtime reinventing themselves when it comes to dramas (Homeland in particular). This, and The Following are right at the top of my "eager to watch in 2013" list.

Movies / Tom Hardy to star as Sam Fisher in Splinter Cell movie
« on: November 27, 2012, 06:22:54 pm »
Not sure what to think of this. I loved the Splinter Cell series as a kid/early teen, but haven't played the newest ones (especially the Xbox exclusive one) but from what i've read and seen on Youtube, there's hardly any stealth involved at all. It's either kill everyone, or knock everyone out. That's not stealth.

Also, why no Metal Gear Solid movie yet? Maybe i should be too careful for what i wish, because i also wished for a DBZ movie and look what happened.

Books / What have you read recently?

The last story i read was Stephen King's Jaunt, which isn't a book but a short story published in the Twilight Zone Magazine in 1981. It's not one of his typical horrors, but more of a sci-fi story.

Basic plot summary from Wikipedia:

Quote
As a family prepares to be "Jaunted" to Mars, the father entertains his two children by recounting the curious tale of the discovery and history of this crude form of teleportation. He explains how the scientist who serendipitously discovered it quickly learned that it had a disturbing, inexplicable effect on the mice he "sent through"- the mice would either die instantly or behave erratically before dying moments later, eventually concluding that they could only survive the "Jaunt effect" while unconscious. That, the father explains, is why all people must undergo general anaesthesia before using the Jaunt.

It's very short and seriously good. If you're a fan of Stephen King or sci-fi, especially one focusing on the psychological sides of the characters, then you need to read this!

Ideas & Suggestions / Moderator chat

Should we have a section for mods to talk about issues with the site? Seeing as though there'll be quite a few mods. It'll also serve as a good place to keep the mods informed on any changes to the site and procedures. A sort of place where we can synchronise, if you will.

Sound good?

Light Novels / Light Novel Section Rules
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:39:05 pm »
Any posts concerning Light Novels goes here. News, new releases, reviews, criticisms etc.

Keep it worksafe (rule may change in the coming days)

Stay on topic.

Mark any spoilers clearly, in the title or on the first line of the post. Normal forum rules apply.

Comics / Comic Section Rules
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:35:57 pm »
Keep it civil. If you don't like a comic or artist, articulate your contempt with criticism. Don't jump in saying "lol dis sucks". Tell us why it sucks.

Try to keep it comic related. News about authors, artists, new releases, new crossovers, reviews, recommendation threads etc are welcome here.

Don't spoil things. This applies mainly to ongoing series. Try not to spoil the last 10 issues of a comic, so as to give others a chance to catch up.  When making a thread which contains spoilers, please state so in the first line of the post.

Don't spoil it for yourself! Don't jump into the discussion thread which clearly says there will be spoilers and not expect any tears.

TL;DR: Don't be a douche, stay on topic, tag any necessary spoilers.

These rules are interchangeable to all forums under the literature section, which is why they sound so similar.

Books / A Few Rules
« on: November 21, 2012, 09:30:55 pm »
Keep it civil. If you don't like a certain book or author, articulate your contempt with criticism. Don't jump in saying "lol dis sucks". Tell us why it sucks.

Try to keep it literature related. News about authors, literary awards, new book releases etc are welcome here.

Don't spoil things. We should be getting spoiler tags any day now, so use them! For old books, this rule shall not apply. We can discuss the cut off time for a book to be considered "fair game". For example, books older than 5, or 10, or 20 years may not require any spoiler tags. Even so, when making a thread which contains spoilers, please state so in the first line of the post.

Don't spoil it for yourself! If you're in the middle of a great book, don't jump into the discussion thread which clearly says there will be spoilers. Finish the book without it getting spoiler and then discuss to your heart's content, or you can decide to be brave and risk getting it spoiled for you. In that case, you have no right to complain.

TL;DR: Don't be a douche, stay on topic, tag any necessary spoilers.
