Reviews / Servamp
« on: October 09, 2016, 09:11:18 am »
(This is a direct translation of my Swedish review at Animecka)

An anime series airing during the summer season consisting of 12 episodes in total.

Animation - 7/10
Sound - 6/10
Story - 4/10
Character - 4/10
Total - 5/10

In short the series is about a number of vampires called "servamps". These vampires kan create contract with humans who then in turn are called "eves". Mahiro, the main character in the series, is introduced as a person of action. He lost his parents when a little child and was taken in by his uncle. Mahiro admires his uncle and has taken over his motto that things should be treated as simple as possible for everyone's best. During the series Mahiro is introduced to the world of the vampires and gets involved in a conflict between these so called servamps where Mahiro chose to try and solve the conflict.

The series have a quality to it that I appreciate to be a standard today. It looks nice without being anything exceptional. The sound was nothing that I thought negatively or positively about. The voice actors did a fine job which was to be expected as I recognised several of them.

The issues I found with the series after I had finished watching it was the story and the characters. The story felt underdeveloped and began to introduce paths which were not always followed up. Many questions left unanswered when the last episode was concluded which immediately left a negative tone to the show as a whole. The last episode ended the conflict but it was uncertain how it effected the involved individuals and what exactly was the deciding factor to the change that the one responsible for the conflict went through.

The characters were, in lack of a more descriptive word; nonexistent. The main character, Mahiro, was quite repetitive with his motto about simplicity and to face someone directly in order to understand each other. This mostly resulted in repetitive phrases as standard and after a while it became quite difficult to take Mahiro seriously as he felt naive thinking he had the solution to everything. The other characters were to some extent interesting and out of them particularity one pair of servamp and eve got extra background history which explained a lot about the two and added depth to them while the others did not get the same treatment in the series. Some characters therefor had potential for further development and depth but this did not fit within the 12 episodes.

Closing Statements
The limit of the 12 episodes brought down any potential the series had. The story could not have been developed as much as it needed to in order to leave a positive impression and the unfair treatment of the characters can partly be explained by the number of episodes. The creators could have done a much better job with distributing the story to fit the actual length of the series.

Lastly I would not recommend this series to anyone. It has some interesting aspects but in the end the viewer will be left feeling unsatisfied as the series as a whole is badly balanced.

Drifters - episode 1

Legal streaming service Crunchyroll (avaible for free users 14th of October)

Quality [SD, 480P, 720P, 1080P]

Posting mostly to add some life to the site. I also referred to Crunchyroll since it is a legal service. I currently have 3 guest passes 48 hours long that have yet to expire. Hit me up if you would like one.

The First episode of Drifters had animation which made me feel like they would need a larger budget. Overall I was quite satisfied with the episode and I believe that the voice actors they chose fit very well with the characters. Just do not expect the Hellsing Ultimate animation quality. xD Looking forward to the next episode!

Haven't been posting much at SeaofNumbers lately, too many forums. XD So I'll gather my latest in one thread. Suffer it!  8) From my last post and onward. w-_-w

Currently I am trying to improve text, depth and blending.

Made a requested set at another forum and some other things yesterday:
My smudge still is far from perfection, I think. :/

Showcase / Liquify + smudge = blending? ;)
« on: April 02, 2013, 08:28:41 am »
So, I have gotten along with the liquify tool among the filters in Photoshop for two signatures. The panda is a request at another forum, I have yet to give him the signature yet so any improvements can still be made. The signature with the woman is still a tad incomplete I think.

(The text color ain't the best in the Panda V1 and V3, looks better in V2. Will have to try and fix it. :/

Edit: Also, the woman signature might not be finished with sharp/blur yet. I got my small laptop at the moment of posting so I can't view the details as good.

Edit 2: Back at my main computer.. Yes, the V3 of the Panda is way too sharp with its colors. xD

Showcase / CnC wanted for more smudge <3
« on: April 01, 2013, 02:16:08 pm »
So I am currently participating in an open battle and the voting is currently ongoing so no changes for that can be made but I am thinking of improving my piece afterwards.

This time I tried to use at least three different sizes for the smudge brush but the lack of details still show, I think. I also tried to blend in the render better since I have gotten feedback about how that is something I should work on.

I think I blended in the hand with water pretty well with the smudge (it looks like the smudge is part of the water, sort of). I think I messed up with one of the fingers though. XD

Trying to improve my smudge technique but it is going slowly. :/ Will have to do more tutorials and testing around it seems.

(Was quite proud of the chakra idea I got. <3)

Here we go again, too bad all my created free INP and InstantZ GFX is useless now. But I have a back-up of some other free stuff for now. ;) I will not upload all at once since it would take too much time, but here is some of the more recent free GFX created by me using Adobe Photoshop CS3.
I allow anyone to download and use the following freely at different forums as long as it follows the forumrules.

Enjoy! :)

Well, hello. :) Nah, Yaana here, from INP as well.

Currently studying at the university hence activity will not be that great, maybe. Practising iaido and kyudo on my free time, also another one of those manga and anime nerds. Love to write and read. ^_^

Nice to meet you all!
